Socializing in Las Vegas: There’s More to Do Than Hit Casinos

My husband and I have resided now for 7 years in Las Vegas, and it isn’t uncommon to hear people gripe that, outside of going to casinos, there’s nothing else to do. They complain about how disconnected most people are here and how lonely it can get. I’ve been guilty of muttering those sentiments myself on occasion.

The truth, though, is that there are actually a number of outlets to help Las Vegans relate to each other in this city. The main problem is that many folks simply don’t know they exist. This is why there are online sources like http://109.199.126.245/ that you can try in order to find out the very best possibilities that you can explore on your trip to Las Vegas.

I was astounded, after doing just a little research on the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s online community link page, to discover that there are several great social groups in Las Vegas and its surrounding areas to fit a variety of interests and backgrounds. People can meet and get to know new people and share the things they have in common.

If you are a citizen of Las Vegas who longs for the chance to bond with others, here are some groups you might be interested in finding out more about:

Ethnic/ Cultural Social Groups

Las Vegas is a city of diversity, especially since it is such a transient city, with people of all kinds who make their homes here either temporarily or more long-term. Many ethnic groups have social groups geared towards their cultural interests and concerns, where they can meet people who share a common background. Even if you don’t belong to any of these ethnic groups, it’s kind of cool to contact them every now and then to see if they are holding any events that the general public is welcome to.

Lake Mead Boat Owners Association

Las Vegas PC Users Group

Nellis Radio Amateur Club

New Las Vegans Social Groups

I can tell you, quite truthfully, that one of the hardest things to do is to make friends when you first move to Vegas. It’s not that people don’t have it in them to be friendly, but, because this is the kind of city it is, folks tend to be a little wary of reaching out to people they don’t know. The purpose, however, of these social groups is to offer you a safe way to hook up with new neighbors and potential friends.

Desert Newcomers

Westside Newcomers Club

Parenting-Related Social Groups

Believe it or not, Las Vegas is a very family-oriented city, with parents who share the same concerns as parents in any other place in the United States. Check out these social groups that provide a special outlet for parents who want support and friendship.

Political-Related Social Groups

Just about everybody has a strong opinion about politics in this town. If you are one of them and want to get involved with other folks who are of a like mind, you may want to look into one of these political-related social groups. Met new people, drink some coffee and discuss the sad state of politics.

CLASSical Liberals of Las Vegas

Green Valley Republican Women (No info on-site, just contact email address)

Libertarian Party of Clark County

Seniors’ Social Groups

While I only found these three social groups specific to seniors on the Community Link page, I’m pretty sure that, if you decide to join any of them, they can steer you towards other resources for enjoyable and relevant senior activities in the area. I’ve found, since living in this area, that most of the seniors my husband and I have met, are pretty nice, many having moved here to retire, so they are not quite as jaded as people who have been here all of their lives.

Las Vegas Breakfast Club

Young At Heart Senior Travel

Singles Social Groups

This is just a sampling of social groups geared for singles in the Las Vegas area. Obviously, there is a multitude of places and ways to meet with other singles. It’s Las Vegas, for crying out loud! Still, using a social group like one of these, where there are a lot more organizations and more people to watch out for your personal safety, may diminish your chances for ending up with some crazed. This is especially true if you’re a little older.

These are just a few of what Las Vegas has to offer. You don’t have to limit yourself to just one group. You can get involved in as many as you desire. Click on the links to find out more information about where and how to get in contact with each group. Sometimes the links work, sometimes they don’t, unfortunately, depending on your luck. Find out at the start if any fees or dues are required, so you won’t be caught by surprise.

In conclusion, all I can say us that, given evidence of these social groups, there is absolutely no reason for anybody living in this city to be lonely, because there is something for just about everybody here
